The Palestinian terrorist attack on the Israeli Olympic team is what we remember best from the Munich Games. 

A total of seventeen lives were lost in the tragedy. 

The competitions were postponed for a day, but most countries, including Israel, wanted the Games to continue. 

The atrocity led to a great intensification of security measures at the following Games. 

Knud Knudsen’s cycling gold and Leif Jenssen’s weight-lifting victory were the leading Norwegian performances.
