Roma 1960

Roma 1960

The first TV Games.

In Rome there were over 5000 competitors for the first time and the number of nations taking part rose to 83.

The Rome Games mark the start of the TV age - never before had so many been able to watch the Olympic Games.

The tragic death of the Danish cyclist Knud Enemark showed that doping was becoming a problem in international sports.

Peder Lunde upheld the Norwegian sailing tradition by winning gold in the Flying Dutchman.
