Stockholm 1912

A breakthrough for the Olympic movement.

The Olympic Games in Stockholm were a milestone in Olympic history, and the successful event marked a breakthrough for the Olympic movement.

The Olympic Games approached Pierre Coubertin’s dream. The Games emerged as a great international event, with friendship and goodwill on every side.

Despite strong opposition, Coubertin won approval for competitions in cultural activities such as architecture, literature, music, painting and sculpture.

This tradition was maintained until the London Games of 1948. Since then, art and culture have still played an important role in the Olympic Games.
