Norway as host to the Olympic Games

Norway as a nation has been a host to the Olympic Games twice. In the Norwegian Olympic Museum you can learn more about the similarities and the differences between these.

The two Olympic Winter Games were very different, but the street life and the festivities were the same. Oslo muncipality arranged the Olympic Winter Games in 1952. The organizer used the Olympic Games as a means to solve the challenges the town was facing after the war.
The Olympic Games at Lillehammer in 1994 was a matter of the state, and was proud to be called «The best Olympic Winter Games ever».
